November 2021 update

Hey, everybody! I've got a few things to share about. The first being our student testimony! This one is a fun one because Olivia is one of the girls I get to meet with this year. She's so fun, really loves people, and makes Jesus known in her friendships. Please take a minute to read her story.

KFG: Keep FOCUS Growing!

Our annual Giving Tuesday Fundraiser is about to take place. As a growing non-profit, this fundraiser helps us stick around for the long haul while helping us expand our reach to more students and campuses in the DFW area. This fundraiser also helps provide our outreach activities and materials, administrative support, health and retirement benefits, and planting new campuses.

The goal: $50,00 in matching funds! Which means we're aiming for $100,000 on Giving Tuesday, November 30th! Some of our generous donors (which includes our own staff) have banded together and agrees to match up to $50k in total donations during this campaign. So if we receive $50k in total contributions, those donors will kick in another $50k! Your first chance to give will be November 30th :)

A prayer request from our director, Brandon Worsham, as he's commenting on the growing social anxiety with Gen Z:

"As we head into our first in-person Pizza Theology in two years (on Nov 14!) as well as Winter Camp in January, we're hoping that we can persuade more students to take part in these key experiences or else ultimately find new, more effective ways of accomplishing the same goals. Will you join us in praying about that? We need a special measure of wisdom and creativity!

Of course, none of these activities is sacred, not even core or a weekly service on campus. Our mission remains the same: To Make and Mature Disciples to God's Glory. We adapted during the pandemic, we're adapting to this new generation, and we'll adapt again and again as needed. The need is as great as ever, with so many more who have never heard the Good News about Jesus and who are so very confused by all the messages they are hearing from the culture. My prayer is that every Jesus-follower on campus will be creative and bold in shining the light of Christ to the people they encounter--loving them, serving them, taking an active interest in them. These students are doing very real ministry every single day, and I'm honored that you've chosen to be a part of it through your prayers and generosity!"

Thank you guys for your prayers and giving! It means so much to us! - Shayla

Photos from the last month:

From our most recent Fellowship Night in which Drew preached about the Crucifixion. We had a time of worship and prayer as well. It was so meaningful to see students willing to see the unjust truth of Jesus' death, and invitation to repentence, lament, and experience comfort and prayer!

Olivia from the student testimony, showing us her train conductor outfit after our student leader meeting in which they had a time of contemplative prayer, and were developed in thinking about dating and carefully confronting people we care about

A student Matt who dressed up as a "Dad" for Halloween. I hope this doesn't offend any of you dads reading this

Darby, my fellow friend and campus missionary, taking care of Ezra in our children's ministry at our Church retreat. He definitely let out a toot as he bent over. Terrible timing.

A photo is worth 1000 words. This one looks bad, but it's very funny to me. This was snapped at our student leader meeting when Clarissa was making a joke, Isaac looked upset, and Brandon putting his head down. We joked that this caption is "Don't ever talk to me or my son again"

Ryan Bristow, our fearless team lead holding his baby, Jude, our fearless team baby! Staff meetings are extra special when we get to play with Jude!

Love you guys, thanks for partnering with me in all this!
