November update

Happy Holidays!

I say that because technically I can't say Merry Christmas yet because Thanksgiving hasn't happened. So for now, let's pretend we are all waiting to listen to Christmas music until after Thanksgiving. Can you tell I'm really excited for Christmas? I've said Christmas three times already. Anyhow, onto some good news!

Our student testimony this month comes from a sweet, humble guy named Johnny. I've known Johnny going on my 4th year now. We were so blessed to have him at Collin, and still super blessed to have him at TWU. This guy is an encouragement, and I hope you take some time to hear his story!

Keep FOCUS Growing! (KFG)

Our annual fundraiser for our non-profit is upon us! FOCUS is a small non-profit funded by people like you. We operate on a shoestring budget, and every year for this fundraiser (and other fundraisers), God blows us away with generosity from so many! We have this fundraiser to help cover staff costs including salaries, administrative costs, outreach materials, bible study materials, and much more! This fundraiser keeps us poised for new opportunities to do more at the campuses we are already at and the campuses God will eventually call us to be at. The money given all contributes in some way to us being able to reach more students with the good news of Christ.

Some of our generous donors have already banded together and agreed to match up to $36,000 in total donations during this campaign. So if we receive $36,000 in total contributions, they will kick in a SECOND $36,000! Your first chance to give will be on December 3rd on GIVING TUESDAY! The best way to give is through our FB page, or a FB fundraiser for FOCUS. Non-proftis receive 100% of the donation through FB. But of course, there are other ways to give! Thank you for already being so generous!

Markia:

In FOCUS, we offer 1 on 1 bible studies called FOJ (Focus on Jesus). It's a 10 study on the narrative of scripture and our place in that big family story that points to Jesus. It's my favorite part of getting to do ministry, and Jesus has blessed my new friendship with Markia. Markia is a freshman at TWU and also happens to be a friend of mine's little sister. Keep in mind that this friend is Cierra, and Cierra and I became friends through being in a small group in FOCUS as college students! God is so cool! This semester Markia has taken scripture more seriously, God's authority more seriously, and is considering for the first time the cost of discipleship. I've loved getting to spend time with her and continue to pray for her! I have no doubt that she will continue to be a blessing to those around her.

Markia! Fun fact: 4 years ago, I attended a teen camp as a youth worker and I remember praying with her! We've reconnected 4 years later in FOCUS!

Love you all!

Shayla
