April Update

Happy Spring, everyone!

First, I just want to say thank you to all my supporters, friends, and family. Each month this Apprenticeship passes, I grow a little more in thankfulness because I get to experience the kingdom a little more in different ways. I don't think I would get this experience  if it wasn't for the people supporting me. So thank you.

Our student testimony this month is from my friend Jon Smith. Any Pocahontas fans out there? Yes, this is his real name. I have known Jon since Fall of 2015, and had the pleasure of working with him at North Central Texas College (NCTC). Jon really cares about people, and goes out of his way to serve others. It makes me happy for you all to get to know him a little better. Read his story here:

MARCH HIGHLIGHTS

1. Impact Week: Every Spring, our FOCUS ministry partners with Chi Alpha (another college ministry)  from Washington state. Collin College hosted four students, and two campus pastors from Bellevue community college (near Seattle).  They spend their Spring Break serving OUR campus! Throughout the week, students got to have spiritual conversations on our campus, bask in the beautiful sunshine while also getting sunburns, they almost met David Hasselhoff, and they truly became family. It was a wonderful treat to host our brothers and sisters from the Pacific North West.

This is a quote from Matthew, one of the students from Bellevue:

"As I look back on the week I see God's hand more now than I ever had before. This week was more than just Spring Break. It was an opportunity to get to do what God had intended for me to do."

I am just so thankful for this group of people who called Texas home for a week. They were so sweet, and special, and they encouraged our students to be even more on fire for Jesus. They impacted our community.

2. Spring Showcase: Thank you to everyone who came out to Spring Showcase! This was our third year hosting this SICM fundraiser. We haven't yet calculated the totals from the event, but it was a fun evening and excellent turnout. Because of your support, many of our students will receive the financial assistance to be able to learn more about campus ministry, and how to take those lessons back home for the people they meet.

  1. What an exciting time of year for our ministry! Having the SSI and IMPACT teams come down from Washington was such a joy. I'm so glad they got to reach out at Collin, and I am praying that the Collin students would be motivated by seeing them spend their spring break on a mission for Jesus.

Spring Showcase was so fun! I can't believe the awesome talent in our community, and I am especially grateful for the performers who donated their time and their talents to help send our students to SICM.

    Thanks Shayla! Love you.
