May 2026

Scenes from SICM!

Howdy, everyone! This past May was our busiest and biggest SICM yet. We had 150 students and 30 staff with us. That's about 30 more students than last year. The students are so fun and so crazy and so on fire for the Lord. Thank you for praying for this trip. Please be praying for the students from Denton that went! We want them to lead in some capacity next year and to lead well.

Within a week of being back, one of them asked if it was okay for them to start and lead a bible study over the summer for any of our students. I was like "Um yes please?" They're just ready. We also had a Denton gal get baptized at SICM by our own Cathryn Turner. That was a special way to start off SICM.

Staff update: this coming year will be our biggest staff team in Denton, we'll have 13 staff! 4 of them are oncoming apprentices. Please be praying that all of our staff gets fully fundraised so we can be fully present for ministry come August.

Thank you guys for being part of our ministry here. God is moving on the campuses and Gen-Z is responding!! Here are some pictures from the last month.

Photos from last month!

Our end of year staff FOCUS dinner.
This year it was Ren-Faire themed. I'm not sure what Graham's medieval character was but several of the younger guys on our staff dressed like this. I had a flower crown in my har that kind of looks like sticks. Debbie Susteita bought 60 rotisserie chickens and the whole evening felt like we were dining at Medieval Times except the food was better! At this dinner, Ryan, Sandra, and I were honored as we just completed our 10th year on staff. Also- join us in praying for the future as we consider facilitating and hosting a conference for community college ministries!

The early bird flight home from SICM. I took this picture of DJ, one of our music students, in the Jetway as we were getting ready for our 5am flight home. There were like 40 FOCUS people on this flight and we all closed our eyes the whole flight home. We were so tired but in a good way.

Our last day of SICM! Students learning and praying before heading off to the celebration.

One of our students Grant giving his testimony during lunch. Several students gave their testimonies at lunch and they planned this themselves. I've never seen that happen before.

SICM host family and FOCUS student walk! We've got 3 denton gals below me, 2 host couples, a single host, 2 UTD guys, and a UTD staff guy. We went on a 5 mile walk through the woods and saw a great waterfall! Definitely a core SICM memory. Also pictured are a couple of doggies.

Our large group pic at Western Washington University!

Cathryn and Laighton right after Laighton's baptism at Lake Padden! Afterwards, we all gathered to pray for her. Her family was there and her parents were so touched to see what our community was like and were so grateful Laighton found christian community in Denton.

Thank y'all for praying, giving, and being part of what God is doing here!
