February 2026: Being faithful with what we're given

 Howdy, all!

As always, I'm excited to share what's been going on here in Denton FOCUS. I'll give a brief rundown and then share more through a series of pictures.

The rundown: February is this interesting liminal space of managing of what we're doing while staying open to new opportunities and thinking ahead for next school year. Crazy, right? Some new things we're trying because we have the staff numbers and student numbers: we switched from 3 planned after events after our TNF service to the students inviting each other to multiple things they can do after TNF (might sound trite but I promise it isn't). We have a Stop the Rot social campaign coming up on campus to invite students to stop brain rotting and start flourishing as God intended. We have a lot students who are not corefas who have been in ongoing coaching to further our reach on campus and the response has been posititve - taking ownership of where God has place them. All of this is in the midst of what we normally do like inviting a lot of people to SICM (yay) and praying that we can get all of those people fundraised for the trip and preparing for the Washington students to do their weeklong mission trip here, and we just had a fantastic pizza theology taught by Garrett Davis and Brandon Worsham which a lot of students responded positively to. It appears that God has entrusted a lot to us and the students and that a big number of them are being faithful with what God has given them and not just relying on official leaders to make everything happen. It's such a breath of fresh air and an exciting new chapter. God seems to be opening many doors in peoples hearts!

Prayers for strength, energy, rest and renewal, and finishing strong are requested!

Here's a picture I took of Joleigh, one of our sweet corefas who printed her own outline to have as a reference for the class on Daniel we're doing during our corefa meetings. The class is being taught by Ryan, Drew, and Hannah Edwards!

This is the campus Lyceum which has 500. We had TNF there one night and emphasized to the students to invite as many new people as they could and I think we had over 300 students come. These students are hungry for God!
One of the hangs that spawned from not having official after events was going to Sonic. Our students were cracking me up because they were doing line dances in the parking lot to millennial songs! I felt like I was at a homecoming dance!

We have a group of students on a co-ed intramural basketball game. Their team name is FTK or For the Kingdom. I went to one of their games and we had a huge student section cheering for them. They won! We're hoping they go to the playoffs :) They're in the white jerseys. This was a mostly friendly game.

There was not a free seat in the house for Pizza Theology: How to think like a Christian, except for the choir seats on stage haha. I was so proud of our students for coming, learning, taking notes, and asking questions.

How cool is this? A 30 year celebration and reunion! Save the Date because You're invited!

Thank you guys for giving and praying! I love that you get to be part of what we're doing here!
